Cars from Korea to Kyrgyzstan

Kyrgyzstan is an EAEU member, so the union's unified customs duties apply: 15% on new passenger cars, 20% on used ones, plus a 0.40% customs processing fee and 12% VAT. For 2026 there is a zero-duty quota for electric cars — the State Customs Service publishes the remaining balance at customs.kg and we check it before the deal. There are no published recycling-fee rates in Kyrgyzstan, so we confirm the amount with a broker and show it as a separate line in the quote. An exact calculation follows from the VIN and year.

To Kazakhstan — yes, under the union's rules. It can be moved to Russia too, but it no longer saves money: since 1 April 2026 the recycling fee is topped up to Russian rates on registration there. Kyrgyzstan was the most popular channel precisely because of that rate gap, and the gap is gone. If the car is for Russia, importing directly via Vladivostok is simpler and cheaper.

The standard route — Busan → Vladivostok → rail through Kazakhstan to the Kayyndy crossing, then a bonded warehouse in Bishkek; car carriers use Ak-Tilek or Chaldybar, and it is only 23–25 km from Korday to Bishkek. Transit through Russia and Kazakhstan takes around 12–16 days. The EAEU transit declaration is prepared in advance, so there are usually no hold-ups at the border.

Handover — in Bishkek (a bonded warehouse or agreed point), and by car carrier to Osh, Karakol, Jalal-Abad or Tokmok if needed. The package: the customs declaration, invoice, BL (bill of lading), the export certificate from Korea, the sale contract and the certificate of conformity. After registration — a Kyrgyz vehicle passport and plates.

From purchase to handover in Bishkek — around 28–45 days. The fastest deals fit into 26 days; longer ones (45+) happen when waiting for a sailing or extra certification (for example, rare EV trims).
